Special Events

Special changes to HODL Score output.

The technical implementation of halving for HODL Score is still in progress.

HODL Score Halving

HODL Scores are designed to reward the earliest participants in Mezo. To facilitate this, we've created a system where Score output decays over time.

Q3 Halving Date

The first implementation of this reduction will occur via an output decay to scores, such that, starting July 1st, daily score output is .5x of what it was in Q2 2024.

Example: If you deposited 1 BTC with a max lock of 9 months, your daily score output today is 16,000.

On July 1st, your new daily score output for the same deposit (both new and old) will be 8,000.

The mechanics of the halving follow a simple linear step function, beginning on May 7th (00:01 UTC) and ending on July 1st (23:59 UTC) when it reaches the new steady state.

The Doubling

The doubling is a weekend event in tandem with the Bitcoin halving, running from Saturday, April 20th (00:01 UTC) to Sunday, April 21st (23:59 UTC).

ALL deposits in the Mezo contract earned a 2x multiplier over the weekend of the halving. The double score multiplier was applied retroactively.

Example: If you deposited 1 BTC with a max lock of 9 months (and thus have a 16x multiplier), your daily score is 16,000 (1,000pts per day per BTC x 16).

For the 48 hours of the Doubling Weekend, you will have a daily score of 32,000.
